Digital Igloo (Eric Klein, YGG)

The HXFX is a very capable MIDI device, what limitation did you hit? Also - and maybe I misunderstood your requirement, but you can do ABY switching already.
No limitations, but I would welcome an ability to assign functions to long press or double click. I could dig the colour and bigger screens, too

Me, patiently waiting for reimagined HX Effects. I would love to see powers of Morningstar midi controller with HX Effects combined, ability to run both my amps a/b/y. Maybe gizmo to add additional loops? A one gadget to rule them out.
Any Helix Stadium FX would be in the same boat as Helix Stadium Rack, I'm afraid. The sell-through of both HX Effects and Helix Rack just aren't big enough to warrant prioritizing them over other products we could make. I won't lie and say I don't have full designs for both of them, but I have designs for dozens of products that may never see the light of day.

Stadium Rack has a better shot because it at least has intangible benefits like being preferred by touring artists and stage techs, but intangible benefits don't put food on the table. We gotta move boxes, and if certain types of boxes don't move, we have to prioritize the types that do.

While I appreciate my HXFX, I don’t think you could make it make sense in this landscape. It would have to sell at a price that I think most would be confused by for a box that doesn’t have amp models…and then it’s possible you end up stepping on the toes of Stadium or <whatever-else-is-or-isnt-coming>.

At this point in time, I fail to see the reason for a new HXFX to exist. I mean, there's no new FX. Might look entirely different next year or whenever.

Whatever, FAS apparently thought it'd be a great idea to release an FX-only product. No idea how well it does on the market.
In seriousness I do think an fx only unit could be useful especially as part of a larger ecosystem where you can digitally connect and integrate the devices. The HXFX feels somewhat unique to me because it has SO MUCH of the functionality from the larger Hx hardware devices, tons of blocks, switches, etc. I’ll be curious to see what happens with the VP4 long term. Clearly people like it.

It's interesting because Cliff is on the record that the FX8 did not do well for them. OTOH it really does seem like the VP4 is fairly popular. I think the more aggressive price point and considerable size reduction help, but it is also not lost on me that Fractal did a different UI for that device too.

Makes total sense!!

See some people just dont want the amp modeler. I have no plans ditching my amps. Although I like L6 effects, I've been using them since mid 2000s in one form or the other.

My point was to take the HXFX one step further. I probably would be just fine with update, if I could have double taps and long press functions added to the current version

My problems with HXFX are that it’s too big for a regular sized pedalboard with more than a couple additional pedals, and it doesn’t have variable input impedance. For incorporating into a pedalboard the stomp/xl are better. And since processing power isn’t allocated to amp modeling in the stomp/xl, you don’t need a separate device for effects only.

"It's Fractal effects in something smaller than a FM3" is doing the work for the VP4.

Since the HX Stomp XL exists, there's perhaps not that much reason for HXFX even though the scribble strips are nicer than a tiny screen.

We'll have to see how the HX Turkey Sandwich (HX Stomp successor) ends up. Personally I would not mind if the actual unit is compact and they offer an official reasonably compact scribble strip pedal as an addition.

Depends how you want to see HXFX. I want to see it as a MIDI controller with built in effects library, and this is how I use my HXFX. I also use Morningstar on my second board and I can see how much HXFX could improve in this category. If I could only combine these two in to one, I would freak out. I dont even wish it to be smaller, as long as the screens can get bigger. I wish I could assign any function to any screen/stomp. Earlier mentioned double taps and long press footswitch options could open up so much possibilities and make my rig setup truly mine. The HXFX range have so much potential, and I hope it wont get axed. It doesnt have to be just a FX processor, and it shouldn't. Especially since the only real competition in MIDI controller world are the legends at Morningstar, and RJM
