David Gilmour Wannabes Unite - Post Your Clips

Hell yeah!!!! Tight work!

Is there some direct signal mixed into this? I'm assuming he used the Zoom unit on the intro of the album version, the initial attack of the notes definitely has that direct sound to it that I'm also picking up a bit here.

I attempted getting the tone from the PULSE version's 1st solo last year-

The "Poles Apart" solo-

"Young Lust" solo-

"Time" solo (needs much, much more delay!)

"Between Two Points" solo-

I've read that they used a direct signal on this track, so that was my starting point but I ended using a Twin Reverb Normal and NO IR, sounds a touch brighter than direct signal but closer to what I hear on the record.
Effects are Boss CP1X, Boss DD-3 and UAD Golden Reverberator, in post I used more compression and a limiter, I probably overdid the CP1X compression pedal as I have no ear for compression whatsoever.

Very nice fellas!

I've never tried to cop DG's tones exactly, it was always more of a 'get in the vibe' kind of thing, trying to channel a bit of his melodic sense.

This is about as close as I get, but with my own song:

Awesome!! It's pretty damn close!

Compression IS a bitch to 'learn', the barrier for entry is speakers that allow enough detail to be able to hear even small amounts of it. I'm still destroying mixes fairly regularly as a result of my own lack of compression education!

Psst. The natural compression on the 1987X is wonderful.

Just sayin'! :whistle

I've spent my morning warming up with it before I go into chugga land for the Do Something challenge. Non-jumped today and I think I prefer it this way because I have enough dirt pedals to stick in front for dirt and get FAR more versatility out of it that way. I need to know more about circuit design to understand how the '68 mod makes it different from other amps.

Ceriatone offers 5 flavors of the '87x-

’67 = shared cathode, “bass” tonestack, soft filtering. Big and creamy.

’68 = split cathode, “lead” tonestack, soft filtering. Brown.

’69 = split cathode, “lead” tonestack, medium filtering. Still brown, but more firm.

’70 = split cathode, “lead” tonestack, heavy filtering. Crunchy, percussive.

’73 = split cathode, “lead” tonestack, heavy filtering. Bright, percussive, quick transition to breakup

I wouldn't mind having it cleaner in general, but I'm not familiar enough with the circuit to know if that's just the 50-watt aspect or the specific year-mod. There's a good chance I'm going to grab the PCB from @Burger and really mod the shit out of it because he got his right around my 'perfect Marshall' tone area and I really wouldn't need a single dirt pedal to use with it due to all the modes it adds.

Edit- Sorry for the derail! Here's more Gilmour-
