Cutting/Bleeding edge phones. Worth it?

So as someone who is pretty deep into technology and as someone who used to sell cutting edge computers and phones, I will say go trailing edge always. I have been following that mentality for phones and computers now for many years and it has done me no wrong at all. My latest acquisition was a Renewed Samsung galaxy S10+ phone that replaced a Note 9 that I had for 4+ years. The Note 9 could probably keep going for a few more years but the screen is cracked and I figured why not? For 214 bucks cash I got a phone that can hang with any of the bleeding edge phones that cost 1,000+ AND I can use it with whatever carrier I want if I decide to change.
