CHASE BLISS "CLEAN" COMPRESSOR

“Not a limited release”

Who is this for? I feel like a lot of brands have put out complex compressor pedals over the past few years and I just don't see how I, as a guitarist, would ever need that kind of capability in my guitar signal chain.

These kind of compressors are great in the studio environment, but on a pedalboard? Just totally not for me.

Seeing it used a lot more now, by regular joes/Jane's.... actually helps in a live environment with lots of low end.. especially with EDM crossover stuff ..IMHO

Country guitar players love compressors, it's actually one of the secrets of getting that snappy chicken pickin thing going on... Also nice if you wanna do some thumb slapping on your guitar too, and also compression is nice for lead guitar as well.

Chase Bliss makes really interesting, slickly designed pedals that ultimately sound pretty mediocre, and are completely useless for most people.

I have to disagree. These days you can pretty much find one chase bliss pedal or more on boards all over the world and far from mediocre.

My friend has all of the Chase Bliss pedals available as of a year ago (I don't think he's got the Gen Loss or the newest ones). They all sound average at best to me, and don't remotely touch anything else in their effects type, IMO. I owned the Dark World, and whilst I'm happy I profited off of selling it, it was a terrible reverb.

Maybe @Digital Igloo can get them to model it for the Helix.....I hear that would make @pipelineaudio very happy ....at least that's what I've read.

🤣
If, like our compressors, the ratio can below 1:1 and be used as a noise gate, YES!!!! Very much YES!!!! Also there's tons of uses I could see in the helix for a side chained compressor, but my compressor settings keep getting corrupted during Bundle saves and editing still....though I think maybe now we know the culprit is when there's other USB stuff also plugged into the computer?

I just want to know if the pan functionality can be controlled by an expression pedal.

I doubt it. Usually expression pedal control or ramping is for the dip switches on the top left.

dynamic, attack, eq, dry, wet seems to be the ones you can control via expression and ramping.

However the shifty mode seems pretty cool

"Each EQ mode has its own unique way of creating stereo movement when the SPREAD dip switch is turned on. Manual mode creates bursts of flickering panning, Modulated mode auto-pans from side to side, and Shifty introduces smooth ,dynamic panning."

"...great in the studio environment..."
Maybe think of them as studio gear with a small footprint. I also don't see how most of their pedals could be used in a live situation, seeing how most demos on YT usually involve endless turning of the knobs, but then you have those nifty mini-shelves that attach to a mike stand...

I don't know whether they sound mediocre, but after getting the hots for Mood and Habit, and listening to some compilations of theirs on BandCamp ("Habitapes" ), I'm starting to have second thoughts about how useful they actually are in terms of exploring new sounds. I'm getting the impression the designers are hung up on lo-fi glitch.
