Can I get a consensus?

Nitro Finishes....

I've got a new Nitro finish guitar coming and I've ruined finishes before.

How do I maintain a guitar with a nitro? Especially a black finish which I know are difficult in that finish.

I've heard everything from never clean one at all. To using Virtuoso crap on it. To many other products, but no sense of a general agreement on how exactly how to own a guitar with that finish and keep it looking great.

Also, be careful when choosing guitar stands and straps because some materials will react with (e.g. melt) the lacquer.
That's the only one I'd worry about. And maybe don't leave it outside in the winter.

It's actually surprisingly how many guitar stands come with a "not suitable for nitro finishes" warning. I don't know what has changed in the materials, I'm using a really old 7 guitar Warwick Rockstand and that has never caused any grief with my nitro finish guitars.

Like you know nitro finish guitars are plenty, why would you make stands that don't take that into account?

So true. My favorite nitro-safe stands are from K&M, in particular, the "translucent" guardian series. I have 6 of these to host the greater part of my collection.

And for 'presentation', the PRS floating stand is pretty epic.

I guess I’ve been lucky, none of my nitro gibsons or PRS have ever had any finish/reaction issues even on the cheapo Amazon multi Stan some of them have been sitting on constantly for a long time

I had a wild wood thin skin tell however and that finish was -very- reactive to anything. Including whatever shirt you were wearing on a given day
