Build That Stalled

A few years now, I had what I thought was a great idea. I ended up with a Bugera 22w Head. Good clean , not so good overdrive.
So I thought , I like the head shell.
Pulled the chassis and found a guy to build a blank chassis.

I didn’t know then , what I was going to build but I had been researching the SLO Clone.
I bought a power Transformer and now I , can’t recall what it was but I think it’s Fender ( something) about 35w.
I did however plan to use a rectifier and I think I bought a GZ34?
So I could probably do a Black Face clone.
I never finished my Mini Plexi build either.

I did go through a lot of changes in my life in the past 7 years. I got layed off from my railroad mechanic job and changed everything.
I went through several jobs before landing back at the railroad for 4 years to retire last July.
Sorry, that wasn’t really a part of the story that belongs here.
I will try to get a picture and maybe dig up some of the parts.

I built one for someone that was like a 50 watt plexi except it had a tube rectifier and was cathode biased. It had smaller transformers (40 watt?) and it sounded really good. He insisted on using EL34's but I liked it better with 6L6GC.

I would like to hear it if you have access to it?
I always prefer 6L6 or 5881’s .
I would like to try KT 66’s
My JCM 900 4102 had 5881’s , I miss that amp.
A couple years back I was trying to do a drawing on a larger sheet of paper. It was coming along pretty good but since I never finished it, I don’t remember much about the circuit.
The problem is those circuits are rather complicated. Even if you had that power section, it was a beast.

I'm sorry, I don't have access to the amp. Just an idea for the parts you said you had. With the old style 5881/6L6 (non GC) the max. plate voltage is much lower than the GC or EL34. Modern versions may vary.

Are you trying for a distorted or cleaner sound? I would just pick a familiar platform and spend some time voicing it to what you like. Play through it a bunch and try some different values. Good luck!

Thanks, I still haven’t dusted it off yet.
I do think a plexi style amp would be a good start.

I would like to have a versatile pedal platform.
It would however probably serve the purpose to just get my hands on a Marshall Origin 50w.
