Bad Cat Lynx MKii vs Kemper vs Tonex vs Quad Cortex Captures of the Same

man they are all very close , for me slightly the Kemper was tighter and had a bit more clarity, but its minimal
When I listened on my phone (terrible, I know) I couldn't hear a difference.

Hi All,

A little experiment with the new Lynx and capturing.

Bring the thoughts!

These are all *really really* close and awesomely dialed-in ... great stuff :)

I played them back and skipped back and forward through my home Studio with +40 year old NS10's at a really loud volume.

What follows is a description using totally subjective non-testable terminology :)

=> real amp = great = really really nice
=> QC = great = sounded a little bit stiffer than the real amp
=> Kemper = great = didn't have the stiffness of the QC and sounded a bit more "bouncy" [I presume this is a "generic profile" as there is no Lynx in the current 45 x Amp Channel list (?)]
=> Tonex = surprisingly sounded a bit less clear and noticeably gainier = also a touch stiffer like the QC

In short - great demo - they are all perfectly excellent and totally useable - and in total honesty - I don't think there is any way I or anyone else could pick which is which in a blind demo.

Three disclaimers ....

=> even though I have sold everything now and am all in on the Kemper with LP's ..... that has nothing to do with my comments
=> thank you for not pumping out a totally un-musical series of "null tests"
=> finally, it has to be said, for all the QC, Tonex, NAM etc... hype .... this +12 year old green box is still equally as good as anything out there and in my personal opinion, still the leader of the pack with their new LP processes

Thanks,
Ben

Nice work, they all sounded great. I agree with the comments by Ben above. Which one do you prefer playing through and which capture/profiling process do you prefer?

Yep, for the end result they are all fantastic.

The Kemper is quick for capture time but they all have their quirks in setting up the signal to get good results.

It was especially frustrating for me with this test. I had to redo it many times due to the systems not liking the methods used.

I like that Tonex is has a plugin version but the Kemper and Quad Cortex are great for full featured travel units. I personally like them all.
