I’ve been using Naim amps and electronics and a Linn turntable since the 70s..
Lots of upgrades over the decades .
Naim speakers active for the last 20 years.
love to see lp12s! always loved those things! i still have a late 50s tube and horn system mothballed in the basement with altec drivers, an eico hf87, and a thorens 124!
Ah, the 80's and the young lust for audiophile equipment! I had subscriptions to both "High Fidelity" and "Stereo Review" magazines. I lusted after just about every high end piece I laid my eyes on, and could afford none of them ;~)) My dream system would have been Macintosh Amp and Preamp (separate of course, not a receiver), Oracle Delphi turntable (though i would have settled for a Rega Planar 3) and B&W 801 speakers. What I did have was Nakamichi 630 preamp/tuner, Philips GA212 turntable, some Klipsch speakers and I don't remember what my amp was. I really wanted the Nakamichi 620 amp that matched my preamp/tuner, and even had it on layaway at the store where I purchased my 620, but had to let it go as I never got the cash together before I had to give up on it (washing dishes at a young age does not audiophile purchase power create)! Here are some pix (not mine) of the pieces I remember (I had the preamp only, but this is a pic of it and the matching amp - the 620 - I still have the preamp but doubt it still works).
These days I am running a mid grade Yamaha receiver with a Klipsch 5.1 speaker system all bought around 2012. I would love to have some high end gear, but all my disposable income (which is zero right now) these days goes to music creation equipment rather than playback ;~)) If I ever find my way to some serious padding in my bank account, I will definitely put together a world class system ;~))
I will add that about half of the music I listened to in that era was at a friend's house where he could turn it up as loud as he wanted. I don't remember anything about his system other than the Pioneer HPM100 speakers, which were great IMO at the time!
