Hey Stone,
Before everybody switched to modelers and in-ears, stage volume would drive any guitar crazy. As mentioned, guys doing two handed stuff like Joel Hoekstra have something because of the mega stage volumes driving the guitar. Greg Howe has always done similarly, I think.
I don't put anything around the nut or in the string cavity, same as Eagle. I put the ball ends at the tuners, too. So I have no tails to rattle (all locking trems on my axes).
