Anyone tried the Ilitch noise canceling systems?

About once a year I get annoyed by single coil buzz and swap my nice pickups out for Dimarzio Areas, and after a couple months grow to dislike the dull sound and swap back. Thinking maybe I just bite the bullet and try out an Ilitch system...then I could keep the pickups I really like and have very low noise.

Curious if there's a difference between the different styles in terms of effectiveness. They have pickguard and backplate replacements as well as control cavity loops. I've got a regular Strat and Tele but really would like one for my Ibanez AZ which is non standard shape.

I consider my Areas nice pickups. :grin
Regardless of hum-cancelling or not, they just work well. Particularly the 58's in my strat with 500K pots. Nothing dull about them.

But I've only heard good things about the Ilitch systems and was curious myself years ago.

Also very interested in the system, but I'd rather deal with the noise if it means changing the tone of the P90 in my Wilson Junior.
Same. I also actually like the out of phase middle position sound and I’d have to modify my neck pickup (ain’t gonna happen).

I talked with the owner and decided to order one but his website was hacked and had the “You won a free iPhone!!” scam.

Then when he got that cleared out, I tried to buy one again and he had the credit card processor in test mode so the order didn’t go through. I asked him to sell me one via Reverb or eBay as a last resort and never heard back.

It seems I’m just not supposed to get one.

My Schecter MV6 has singles and the Bridge pickup is Noisy (When not in humbucker mode), I can correct it with the Fractal Intelligent noise gate, but I'm really not a single coil guy at all, I may use the middle and Neck single coils but not the bridge, I'm starting to notice that for me pickups don't really matter all that much, I can correct or match the tones I require with the FM9, I do love humbuckers and my Fralin P90's which are essentially single coils, but just can't gel with Fender single coils.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ilitch can handle rwrp, depends on how you wire it. Especially with a super switch.

Dimarzio areas sound a bit compressed and dull, not bad on their own but combined they lose a lot of clarity.

I have Suhr's version in one of his guitars and I have never heard hum from the singles in the guitar. They still sound like they should too. If you are having trouble with hum, I would give one a try.

Weird aside but I have a Suhr with V60lps and my parts caster with Areas. I’ve never found the areas dull. And that’s with 250k pots. In fact, the v60lps (probably because of it literally being “low peak”) were a lot duller.

I like the Areas quite a lot for a no fuss noiseless option. But I get the same “grass is greener” thoughts of an ilitch and some true singles sometimes.

First set of V60LP I had sounded dull but second set was really balanced. I also have a set of Kline 64 that are similar but more sparkle up top.

I’ve tried so many areas, I have 67, 58, 61, injector set, and virtual solo. Haven’t found a great combo. Either too dull or odd sounding in middle positions.

Also slightly tempted to try an EMG set like the Luke someday.

I never liked the back plate thing.
After he stopped working with Suhr he contacted me (when I was still in Calinhe was like 30 minutes away) and had me check out his pedal version.
Which worked surprisingly well...but fir some weird reason I'm so used to the single coil hum I rather deal with it by "finding Mecca".

I mean on my Tyler with the kitchen sink I should off the dummy coil for that reason.
