Anyone Have Opinions on Schecter C1 E/A w/ Piezo PU?

Just started an acoustic side project with a singer from another band and my 20 year old Takamine AE is about worn out and bothering my arthritis quite a bit.

I have been looking at options and came across a handful of electrics that have Piezo PU's and a lot of YT reviews have been pretty positive on the Schecter, especially for the price. IMO, it even beat out the PRS SE Piezo. Since this is not a super serious project yet, and we already have a few gigs set up for January, I am looking at something reliable and under $1000 to get me by for now. I have a Stomp XL and a ToneX to add to the sound to make it closer to an acoustic electric plugged up to a PA.

I tried a Fender Standard Acoustasonic and was overwhelmingly not impressed at all. I talked to a guitar tech at an authorized Fender repair shop and he said he gets a lot of them in with problems with the electronics to which is fine while under warranty, but it's only 2 years for the imports. Plus it really felt like a cheap toy while I played it.

I would love to get a Martin or Taylor acoustic but it's not in the cards, or wallet, at this time. Any other suggestions are more than welcome.

Looks pretty cool too...

I can only tell you about Schecter in general. I've found them to be great guitars with some of the best necks I've tried. Their in-house pickups are really good too. They are a quality company.

I have owned four but I'm down to one, and the only reason is because I switched to headless and Schecter don't do them. If Schecter released a bunch of headless tomorrow, all the ones I have will be on the local ads the next day.

Me similar as Jynx , can't help with piezo question ... BUT ....
... BUT ....
One musical friend of mine used to own Schecter C1 Classic ( read it: Passive Hellraiser with Duncan Jazz / JB I think ). And that guitar is amazing.
And also there is one nice Schecter C1 Hellraiser in my local shop, I didn't have it in hands, but I took closer look at it ... seems like a really well build guitar , didn't notice any visible flaws on it.

That guitar is 1500, not a grand. Unless of course you find it used. It is a nice guitar though.

Do you need an electric with a piezo? The LTD TL-6 is a great option too.

I found a used cheaper one, Cat's Eye, that costs $1100 new. This one used is around $600. Same body but with different Humbucker PU's. TBH, I'm not interested, at this time, with how the HB's are. I can always change them out later if I need to.

I'll check out the LTD you mentioned too.

They do make the Synyster Gates headless 6 and 7 strings, for what it's worth! I've really wondered about both the tuning stability and range on those trems.

Looks hot.

I used to have a Schecter C1 Hellraiser - very solid import guitar - sold it now I regret it - it was my EMGs metal guitar.

I currently have 3 schecters - 1 Solo6 Custom Vintage sunburst (like a Gibson, 24.75" scale),
and two Nick Johnston Schecters - The original import in white and the new 10th anniversary with wenge neck. Both play great.

I have the Sun Valley Super Shredder FR Exotic Black Limba. Great fretwork, great feeling neck, impeccably tuning stability. I've had a few Schecters. To me quality for any of the stuff in this price range is always the luck of the draw. I've had significant problems with the two other Schecters I had, but not this one.

If you’re also looking at an acoustic that you’ll be plugging in most of the time you should look at the Taylor GS mini. And if you like the Taylor 314, but want something cheaper look at the Guild OM240.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll check them out. The more I look around, I think I want to get something that sounds like an acoustic through a PA with the playability of an electric but I'm not 100% on it until I play some.

Even if it's piezo sounding vs true acoustic, that's good enough. With my ToneX & Stomp, I can clean it up considerably to pass for a bar gig.
