I've seen similar abominations ca. late 1970s/early 1980s. The tweets are dirt cheap Motorola piezoelectric units. Back in the day, they retailed for a few dollars. The apparent goal in using a wall of them was to get enough volume to keep up with other elements - e.g., horns with compression drivers - of a PA, but the actual result was a rat's nest of comb filters that smeared transients even worse than a single piezo did.
Pro tip: if a single transducer sounds like shit, a shitload of them will sound like more shit and stink even worse.
Just wait until people start realizing they’ve been missing out on comb filtering in the room in a major way this whole time. They’re gonna forget all about amps in the stationary position I am also in.
