It sounds macho, but hit the gym, dude. :grin

I started some fitness/weight training 3-4x/week, about six months ago, and it's been life changing after a life of lazy musician non-activity. One of the nice side effects is my Mesa heads seem like nothing now. I lift that weight above my head with one hand repeatedly in these classes.

Honestly, part of me thinks having to carry an amp around might not be the worst thing for me

Haha, yes, exactly! I used to look at it like, "Well if slugging my gear around is the only exercise I'm getting, then it's not really a bad thing to move my head+cab for gigs, practices, etc, overall."

its why i say im ready to plug into my iPhone to FOH. the only thing i want to be lifting at gigs is cold 12oz'ers

I’ve done that before. The place where it falls apart for me personally is when I’m blending acoustically with other instruments.

Yesterday at rehearsal I was sitting next to a Steinway D-274. You don’t even want to know how shitty an "FRFR" sounds next to a Steinway concert grand piano :rofl

It’s like, imagine you’re listening to a string quartet where three of them are playing acoustically and the fourth one is coming out of a phone speaker

(sees metro rolling up to stage orchestra rehearsal with an SVT and a coffin) 'hey dudes! where do i plug in?!'

The key is always make sure the first sound they hear out of your amp is much quieter than they expect. That always disarms any concerns anyone has when they see the amp and I’ll have more freedom to adjust volume from there.

It’s all about perception

Hitting the gym or even just a slight increase in your exercise routine (or implementation of one at all) can do wonders!

I will say though that weights are made to be lifted. Some amps, no matter how JACKED you are can be a pain in the ass just with how awkward they are to carry.

Idk about you all but I have trust issues with amp handles and always need to carry it by the physical amp head
