Airis 51-FITHY SS Amp

OK. I wasn't paying attention to the fact that the Airis uses a solid state class D power amp. It doesn't require large transformers like a tube poweramp may require.

I’m very interested to hear folks thoughts when they start rolling in.

Absolutely digging my prototype. Mine and the other 19” he had are the same build as the smaller format other than chassis layout. Basically “final form” juts different format.

Honestly sounds killer from what I've heard although with any solid state I've ever tried, 3 different crate amps, ampeg vh140c and the Katana. There is always some very specific sound in the low end that I can't explain.

Wow, those solid state are so small and compact. I’d love to see a unit used two of those for stereo use.

This is the first solid state amp I’ve bought in years. Played it for a bit again today and it’s bad ass.

How do you like it? Does it compare to the original 5150 favorably? :satan
I only got to play at the-baby-is-sleeping levels, so I can’t provide too much in the way of an opinion yet. I really only powered it up and played at a whisper to make sure everything was working. I may not have a chance to really put it through any paces until this weekend. We’ll see.

Had some time to really crank the 51Filthy yesterday. It’s solid. There are enough knobs to tweak to get the tone where you want it. The integrated boost is nice, though it would be nicer if you could control it with an external foot switch. However, I have a stupid number of overdrive pedals, so I’m not hurting for external boost options.

The Resonance control brings the thump. The Presence control has a usable range (I.e. doesn’t need to be cranked).

The integrated 9V outputs are super handy too.

I’m impressed with this and eyeballing the Recto version now…
