Helping out a fellow forumite, I had the opportunity to use an Aiken Sabre head and matching oversized cab.

Not that I am the most experienced in amps, but find this one to be the most versatile of any amp I’ve had the chance to play. My Twin Sister wasn’t this versatile…

Two channels that almost seem like four. Both channels have a completely usable boost that sounds great. MV is absolutely fantastic.

I haven’t messed around with channel one much, but when I originally plugged in, the amp was in boost mode on channel two. If I read the manual correctly, boost has to be engaged in order to use the foot pedal?

So, plugged in direct, boost mode in channel two engaged with gain about 10-11 o’clock. Fucking glorious! And the cleans you can achieve rolling back volume while boosted I was really impressed with.

Disengaging the boost and bringing the gain up to roughly 2 o’clock with my LP just sang. The clean up is impressive. I could live in that spot the rest of my days…

Did I mention it was red? Looks killer!

Amp just sounds great!

She must have some large iron because the head is heavy as hell.

I think if I had to pick a con to appear honest, genuine, I’d knock the cab a little.
Well built, everything you’d want. But it’s absolutely monster. I don’t exactly know the measurements, but I’d love to compare the measurements of a 1960B 4x12 cab because I don’t believe this 2x12 is far off. It’s large. Being a home player though, the matching 2x12 wouldn’t leave home, so I wouldn’t be carrying it around. It does sound great.
I actually don’t know what speakers are in the cab?

Honestly, I prefer my Marshall 2061 2x12 in comparison.

I have a quick snippet I posted on Rig-Talk when I first plugged it in. But got beat up a little like my SoundCloud whatever was malicious? Bad playing, yes. Malicious intent, none whatsoever.

Then again, maybe I’m not liked much over there…

Not surprised! Aiken is a wealth of knowledge on tube amp design. I've learned a lot from his website pages and posts. Never tried one his amps though, congrats!

I'm just a middleman between buyer and seller.
Chances are, I would never have the opportunity to play an amp like this.
I'm considering myself fortunate.

I'm sure this is a killer amp. Randall is a brilliant tech and a real class act. Back in the 00s, I exchanged some messages with him about tube amp tech questions I had and he was extremely patient and gracious.

I like my cab better. For what I do, my home space.

The Aiken cab is a bit brighter, and I’m sure in a live situation it’s fantastic.

At home, in my small space, my cab is a bit warmer. My 2x12 is also vertical and off center from each other. So projection is different.

I may like it a little better into my Power Station too. I may be crazy, but to my ears, it sounds a little fuller into the PS.
