Should be a fun one;

Contrary to popular belief the neck on this is D profile and on the slim side. Incredibly close to my Aristides H/0 6.

I should persuade the owner to go for a nylon 6 nut instead of the bone he wants.

I don’t think so but it’s possible. It definitely has had some work done on it, you should have seen the nut. It looked like a five year old made it out of some spare Legos lol.

I said the same thing when I first saw it and you’re probably right. If so they did a really nice job because it plays well and there is none of the usual hackery that you see sometimes. I did clean them up and polish them so they look like new, this thing was in 12” of salt water for a week and it’s a miracle that the pickup and electronics are still good. I have done half a dozen more and a few of those are completely toast. Those two hurricanes kicked our asses and a lot of instruments suffered.

Unreal! Water is scary. We had a sump pump fail in a studio a couple years back and every vintage amp in the place got hit with about a foot of standing water. Luckily it missed most of the electronics but it was damn painful knowing all those vintage speakers were half submerged for a couple hours.

Finally finished it.

Carful not to interfere with the wear on the finger board for the look.

And a Mojoaxe bridge which is really to only choice for something like this . Totally preserving the look and tone but fixing the intonation.

It was a bone nut in the end . It should have been a nylon 6 one really but it would have cost more. His choice but an extra £20 on this is totally worth it.

I've always loved the look of the 59/60 LP special, but I've never seen a lot of enthusiasm for them. What's your take Andy?
