My arrangement of this jazz standard for solo guitar was inspired by Bill Frisell. It was during the dark days of corona, and I caught an interview with him in which he was asked what he does to keep busy in lockdown, and he mentioned playing this song, noting its lovely descending melody.

I never heard his take on it, but decided to work up my own solo guitar arrangement. It took me several months to put it all together. I didn’t write it down, working instead from memory as I gradually pieced it together.

When things had begun to open up again, I performed it live as part of a solo guitar set, playing on my 1970s blond Gibson Johnny Smith straight thru the small venue’s PA.
