Plugins are the ideal digital form factor for desktop/home useI want desktop / "on top of cab" friendly modelers. I don't want big hulking rack boxes on my desk, or units where the footswitches are constantly on the way if it sits on a desk. Big floor units are a no go for me.
But at the same time, they don't need to be as small as a Nano Cortex or Tonex One. Tonex One would be a better pedal if it was a standard Boss sized box with regular size knobs.
IMO the HX Stomp - Quad Cortex range is the sweet spot.

Not without physical controls, and honestly nothing is that well suited for MIDI knob control without painstakingly mapping stuff yourself.Plugins are the ideal digital form factor for desktop/home use
Modellers are never as simple as “grab a knob” to dial in though. There’s pages, menus, need to look at the screen etc. All the better modellers (like the ones in your example) are best used with a mouse and a computer editor. Not without physical controls, and honestly nothing is that well suited for MIDI knob control without painstakingly mapping stuff yourself.
Personally I don't like sitting in front of a computer with a guitar in my lap, holding my plectrum awkwardly as I try to click around with a mouse to just tweak some single setting, vs "grab a knob" of pedals and amps.
Maybe the drink you apparently just had should have been smaller?!Small gear is whack. Bog schlings rule the day. Schling scaling sclog
Even the nebcoromponcon knows that fear dhud be big
I think the Quad Cortex gets fairly close. Building presets is better on a computer for sure, but editing existing presets with actual knobs is far more pleasant.Modellers are never as simple as “grab a knob” to dial in though. Probably faster to map a MIDI controller to your plugins of choice than it is building a handful of presets on your modeller of choice.
QC is the best of the bunch for that (maybe TMP is similar). But there’s still amps where you can’t fit all of the controls on one page, and you need to select things before you can adjust and look at the screen etc.I think the Quad Cortex gets fairly close. NOT ANY MORE!Somebody's at the pub!
