Hello Everyone

I have seen several online but never experienced any in person.
Am not looking for a modeling amp, software, etc. (want to dedicate my time to playing - not tweaking, etc).
It can be something with lower wattage than Fender offers as I am not looking to use it in a band situation.
All opinions, pros/cons are greatly appreciated.

Thank You in advance.

I think you first need to determine what exactly you are looking for out of the boutique version. Lower wattage is not going to help you because if you can't turn up a Deluxe Reverb or Princeton, then you aren't going to turn up say a 5W version either.

Since I'm in Europe, Bluetone here in Finland would be my choice. Seems their website is down atm, but they make a variety of Fender Blackface based amps, with power scaling, master volumes and all that modern good stuff. At more attractive pricing than Fender's own amps, which are nowadays ridiculously expensive for what they are.

In the US I'm sure you can find no shortage of builders that will make you a nice Fender based amp, handwired or not.

Alternatively, just go big. It's not exactly a Super, but the Mesa Lonestar Classic is lovely with a Fender Twin-ish clean tone, again with modern options bundled in. They aren't too hard to find used and should not be absurdly expensive either in the US.

Achilles Amps in Australia make some NICE Fender style amps

Zephyr (DR style)

Totally agree!

I built a 5 watt 5F2A, Heyboer transformers, NOS RCA glass, 10" Celestion Gold speaker.
Only sounds good loud and breaking up.

It’s my barn amp.

Ignore the wiring, it was my first build. No noise.
Tube Depot measured different tubes for length, dust cap is large and hit some tubes.

I actually want to buy a real board and turrets and do it correct/clean and use better small parts.

I went down this rabbit hole a couple years ago. Ultimately ended up deciding on a late 70s SFDR. Old iron, hand wired, was even packed with a couple bugle boy 12ax7s and a full set of RCA 6v6s.

I think the prices on these have climbed as of late but you can still find them <$1500 if you’re patient.
