Hi Gear Forum

The day has finally come where more room must be made to make room for new, unfortunately i am terrible at self control and making decisions, so i thought i would take it to here to as for as much help and comments as i can get to help make a decision on what to get rid of and what is actually worth keeping now a days. They are all winners to me =)

Here is a link to what i currently have, please feel free to make comments on what you think is worth keeping and which you think should go and are not worth having around Thanks all!

Get rid of all those basses.

J/K, it's a nice collection. You definitely have multiples of your favorite designs, so I would say pick your favorite of each and off the rest.

You should sell this to me... I got tree fidy :love

Idk, your collection is pretty awesome i would want to keep most of those.

if that was my collection and I was pressed I would probably off the LTD and some of the Ibanez' and EIIs

Nice! I want the black Viper, the PRS looking tele and the Ibby DT. Even though you have more pretigious items in the collection; those are what speak to me. It's all good either way though :love

Thanks guys!

Its so hard parting ways with them, every time i go to sell one, i set it up and clean it all nice and play it for a bit, then re-fall in love with it.

I am thinking about maybe not having 3 SGs 🤔

Seems like a lot of overlap in the bass department.

In the guitar area - pick your favorite of the two SG Customs. The rest of your collection does not strike me as “now this definitely needs a maple AND rosewood start” so pick one.

Wow that's a big collection!

Here's what I'd keep:

Ibanez 6 string RG with the crazy yellow finish
E-II 7 string (for variety)
PRS Custom core model
White Strat
Tele
JM
Flame top Gibson cherry burst
One of the SG's
Firebird
PJ bass
5-string EBMM bass

I'd probably look to add a good 335, maybe a Gretsch hollow body, and a Strandberg for variety.

Phew….hahaha I’d have a hard time parting with a lot of those, too!

Pale moon ebony board on that Tele is SWEET!!!!!!

Thanks guys!

I am in a similar position with my collection. I have around the same number of guitars as you have guitars and basses. I had the same problem as you are having. I realized that I was not going to be able to get them out and play them if I was going to successfully sell them. I took two of mine late last year and put them back to stock in preparation to sell them. I finally got around to selling them a little over a month ago. I just grabbed the cases and took them to my local shop to see what I could get. I had talked to him last year. I let him take them out of the cases and handle them then we talked price. We were able to come to an agreement and I left with a check. I have not regretted letting those two go so far.

I had another one that in a discussion with a friend a couple of weeks ago he was really interested in it. He wanted me to do some work on the guitar he has been gigging so he brought it over and showed me what he was having issues with. He then asked about the guitar we talked about. I had to dig it out of the back of the closet. I pulled it out and showed it to him. I touched it and had it in my hands when telling him about it. I then let him play it through my amp for a little while as we were talking and catching up. He asked me for a price and we discussed it for a bit. I finally gave him a price and he took it immediately. I am happy to see this guitar go to him. He will love and play the heck out of it. I am slightly regretting selling it because I had it in my hands and watched him play it for a while. I know that I haven't played the guitar for a good while and it isn't one of the first ones I reach for. I will get over the regret. Time will make things better.

That makes 3 that I have sold in a couple of months. I am working on identifying the next one or two to go. I have a few that I think I will be okay with selling. I just know that if I have modified them and want them back to stock to sell, I have to do that then put them away for a short while. Then when I am ready to sell, grab the case and make it happen, DON"T TAKE IT OUT AN PLAY IT AND POLISH IT.

Yeah taking them out and making them look nice and play nice again just makes me go man this guitar is awesome i think ill keep it 😂

Great collection. I mean, wow.
Though I see a lot of redundancy, there must be a reason for each and every one of those.
Is it the best time to sell though?
I don’t see much of anything moving, even at fair prices.

Nice collection!

All I can say is, when you get rid of whichever you decide to let go..., moar EBMM!! haha

It absolutely is.

I browse offerup everyday and see the same guitars that have been posted for months now. The only ones that move are from the guys willing to take a loss it seems

My approach to this is asking myself things like:
  • Are you playing this regularly or at least using it now and then?
  • Is it too similar to something else you have?
  • Could selling this fund something else you want to get?
Now, at a dozen guitars (including an acoustic and bass) I still have too many, but I don't mind that so much.
