Any 1/4" jacks I have plugged into a pedal, a floor modeler or a pedalboard somehow come about halfway unplugged over time. My music room is in my finished basement, and the carpet is a Berber type with a fairly thick pad underneath. Could walking by somehow pull on the cable enough to work it out of the jack over time? Or do I have a poltergeist? Usually when I leave and come back an hour or two later it will be about a half inch out of the jack, and all night will find it halfway out.

Or maybe it's the hobo living in your ventilation duct who is just bored, is rocking on your gear when you are away and then forgets to put things back the way they were.

But seriously, that's very weird. Could weather change enough to cause the jacks to become slightly loose and push out the cable?

I'm starting to wonder about this.

I'm relatively certain it has something to do with the carpet. It only happens to the cables when they're plugged into something on the floor. If I have my FM9 or something up on the desk, they stay plugged in.

Clean the connections and then look for finger smudges once you notice they are half out?

Any pets? My cats sometimes mess with my pedalboard, hide my smokes, toss picks across the room, try and break my interface, etc. when they see fit

But it sounds like it's probably ghosts. I'd look into murders that may have occurred at your address

We've got two kittens but they're not allowed in the music room until they grow up.

FTFY. I adore my cats but cats and grill cloth do not mix.

My cats seem to respect the grill cloth for some reason. When one of them gets pissed that I'm playing guitar instead of petting or feeding her she does purposely start going at it on the side of the couch though
