We Have To Go To 10. Your 10 Desert Island Albums. Go! (Edits Ok, cuz I get ya might hafta move one up a l'il higher)

I am not smart enough to be able to digest and comprehend Copland's 12 tone works. :idk

Lark Asending and Appalachian Spring

When I was 2, my parents put the big 1960s Koss headphones on me and I listened to the planets by Holst as a babysitter.

Sounds like I have some baking bread music to check out. Thanks. :)

So, usually Sunday morning is listening to classical music time for me.

Lark Ascending is always a favorite along with Rachmaninoff playing variations on a theme by Paganini.

I think the Hillary Vaughn version is pretty good of lark ascending on YouTube

In no order and several of these artists it could be several of their albums depending on mood.

Your Arsenal - Morrissey
Crack The Skye - Mastodon
Odelay - Beck
Marquee Moon - Television
Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan
Abbey Road - The Beatles
Ziggy Stardust - Bowie
Doolittle - Pixies
Dixie Blur - Jonathan Wilson
Like Clockwork - QOTSA

When I was younger there’d definitely have been more metal on here. Killswitch/Deftones/Opeth/Alice In Chains/Tool/Gojira still get spun a bit but mostly in a nostalgic way.

Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie
Hum - You’d Prefer An Astronaut
Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power
Deftones - Self Titled
Failure - Fantastic Planet
At The Drive In - Relationship of Command
Queen - II
Weezer - Blue Album
Oathbreaker - Rheia

So tough. Need Rush (All albums) and just can’t find a place to squeeze Arcade Fire’s Neon Bible, Bjork’s Vespertine, Thin Lizzy’s Jailbreak, or narrow down a singular album from M83 or Queens of the Stone Age. This is stupid I could fit way more than ten albums on an island.

In no particular order:
1. Dream Theater - Scenes From A Memory
2. Haken - The Mountain
3. Opeth - Still Life
4. Transatlantic - SMPTe
5. Spiral Architect - A Sceptic’s Universe
6. Jeff Buckley - Grace
7. Metallica - Master of Puppets
8. Symphony X - The Odyssey
9. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
10. Ark - Burn The Sun

10 albums is hard! Not a huge amount of variety here in terms of genres but I know what I like :)

for me, IF I truly knew I’d never leave the desert island (mostly because of memories attached):

U2 - The Joshua Tree
R.E.M - Automatic for the People
Pink Floyd - The Division Bell
Counting Crows - August and Everything After
Enigma - The Cross of Changes

This is a great list

This is super hard because there are albums that influenced me but maybe not what I listen to now

Ok
Van Halen 1 is a given
ShineDown The Sound of madness
Judas Priest Screaming for Vengeance
Garth Brooks In pieces
Extreme pornograffiti
Roxette get to the chorus

Funny story years ago I had a house party and some one stole that Roxette CD
They didn’t steal the Metallica
They didn’t steal the Maiden or OZzy or Def Leppard
They stole the Purple Rain and Roxette. Go figure

Love the question. Very tough. Not ranked but I’d want these with me on that island.
  • …And Justice for All
  • Rust in Peace

  • Vulgar Display of Power
  • Stained Class
  • Among the Living
