So I built the only "secret pedal" I have yet to try on my quest for the recorded guitar tone from Van Halen I..

It's the Univox Unidrive UD-50.

Pretty convincing to me.

Signal Chain for this track : Ibanez Super 70 pickup > UD-50 pedal > plexi (all controls on 10 except bass on 1) > Celestion Greenbacks Speakers > NLS Channel Strip > API 550 EQ > Pultec EQ > Sunset Sound Reverb

Sounds great and so does the playing! I'm going to steal some of your settings and see if I can get closer to that tone on my Stomp XL. I have been working on that tone for a little bit myself.

I learned all this stuff from the Jim Gaustad videos on YouTube. Check those out if you really want to get close to this tone !

Seeing your pedal builds really makes me want to order a BYOC, I just need to order it when I know I’ll have time to sit down and build it or all the parts will end up all over my damn apartment.

Probably one of the easier pedal builds, right here.

I think I'm in it for about $65 for the circuit board, components and shipping.

I know I can jump into this without formal training, but my company is going to put me in school for anything I want and I’m really praying things slow down enough this year that I can get into some electrical education classes. I understand some schematics from my AC training, but only what we work with in AC’s. If they were all serial it wouldn’t be an issue!! :rofl

I almost fear once I order BYOP parts
- I ‘ll reveal how bad I’ve been getting hosed’ all these years with my pedal purchases.Lol!!

I appreciate your ambition & conviction dude,
it’s contagious and getting me all hot & bothered.
I mean my solder gun hot & bothered👍.
Sounds really good also,
-you def’ know how to get around the fretboard🤘🏻
