Hey [any] Tonex iOS iPad-iPhone users !

I have a question. Been over T.O.P and gotten nowhere fast :(

I have a borrowed iPad from my brother pending the arrival of mine late next week.

I've loaded the Tonex iOS App and its working fine.

However ?

=> how in this God forsaken universe do you load Tonex Models that you already bought and own - like Amalgam Audio Packs - into Tonex iOS ?

I think I've looked everywhere, and even emailed IK Support, and still waiting for an answer, and cant find an answer.

IK doesn’t support this but there is a work around using iMazing. https://imazing.com/ Basically you need to make a backup of the iPad using imazing and then use the imazing program to swap the TONEX database on the iPad with one from a desktop version of TONEX that has the third party captures.

Steps -

Back up the ipad that has tonex on it.

Make the backup editable in imazing.

Follow the guide below to swap the databases and restore that altered backup with the new library.db to your iPad. Just restore Tonex, not the whole backup.

To restore data for a single app from a backup, you'll need to extract and restore the app's data. To do so, see the following guide:

The iPad backup takes a long time and can fail. The imazing program is also a bit cumbersome but their tech support is good and they will help you over email.

Also when you reboot the iPad after the TONEX database transfer it will go through a restore process and you need to follow imazing’s instructions carefully or everything will get messed up.

So it’s doable but complicated and it would be a lot easier if IK would just support using third party captures in the iPad and iPhone TONEX app itself. Maybe when they update the apps - IK still has not updated them to have the new effects. The versions on the App Store are over six months old. Unfortunately IK seems to treat its iOS and iPad apps lower priority than the desktop apps.

The price is right, the tones (once you find them) are killer, and they keep sweetening the pot (ToneX One, firmware updates, etc.) But yeah, unless the software and UI/UX have been completely revamped since launch, I won't even risk looking at it again.

Basically the workaround for me has been upload to tonenet...sync...and delete before folks grab them.
