Damn I love the tools we have at our disposal!!
At the end of Breaking Bad S4, I heard this:
And I was like, "Oh I wanna learn that!"
Do a search to figure out what the song is, then find a tab on Songsterr and get to it. Easy-Peasy!
The tempo is 135 bpm
I don't fingerstyle, so getting the first part is going to take more time, due to picking single NPS riffs, but the pull-off part came a lot easier. I started it way down at 160 bpm (counted as eighth notes), worked my way up to 200, then dropped it down to 100 and played it as written (16th notes), and took a break at 110.
I even went for it a couple times at 135, and was almost there, so I'm pretty happy I was able to get something like this under my fingers in just a day. Still need to go back to 100 bpm, and really work it, and go up 5 bpm each time to get it down.
There's no way I would've been able to learn this that quickly, if I hadn't been practicing all those technique-building solos & riffs I've been working at the past 5 years, so I'm pretty stoked that that effort is paying off.
This is the part I worked on (1:57 in the vid):
So far the only thing I've noticed the tab has wrong, is I hear 16th note triplets in the strumming part that they don't show.
