Stopped by GC on my way to tonight’s gig…

I'm just proud that he didn't say that word that rhymes with Glug :bag :rofl

… and amp #2 followed me out the door

I had a moment in the store… it was actually a little embarrassing. AC30s and Telecasters were my thing for so long through more gigs than I can remember, but I haven’t played one since going digital about 10 years ago.

I saw this one, grabbed a Tele, plugged in, set the knobs where I remember always setting them… and after I hit the first chord I got all choked up and emotional. So many memories came to me and it was just instantly my sound.

I am beyond happy right now. I’m home
Score! You were smart to snag it. Those mofos are hard to find nowadays. :love

Nice! If that’s “your amp”..never let it go, even if you ever get a “digital kicker” again. For reference and a rainy Sunday morning session alone they are worth it.
(Bookmakers are calculating the odds of you trying capture tech the next 12 months though ;))

I don’t know, I’ve never been impressed with any digital Vox emulation I’ve ever heard. I’m not in a rush right now, I’m planning to just use the head with the Suhr RL for IEM gigs

I do loathe the design of that head though. Just because they wanted to use the combo chassis they made an amp where the knobs are in an impractical place.

In any case congrats on the new amp! What cab are you using with it?

Meh, never bothered me once in all the years I gigged with one. And by now I could tweak it in my sleep so I’m not concerned about it at all.

Oh man I’m jealous! I’ve been keeping an eye out for one of the vox AC15/30 heads for a while now.

Does this one have the built in attenuation?

Yeah it does. These amps also have very effective master volumes so it’s very easy to get whatever you need at any volume.

Nice. I like how the heads look. What speakers are you pairing with the head?

None right now, I’ll probably start shopping for a v212c. I’ve always liked greenbacks best with Vox amps, though I’m also a fan of the Celestion Gold. We’ll see

How much was it..curious

I got a pretty good deal on it: $800 out the door after tax.

A guy bought it from the shop a few years ago and never played it. It collected dust for a while and then he sold it back to the store. It’s basically brand new.

If you’ve never played a real Vox ac30 you owe it to yourself to try one sometime. Digital emulations don’t do it justice.

I just plugged my Strat -> DynaComp -> Notadumble clean side -> top boost channel up half way -> g12h30 and I swear I had an out of body transcendental experience, haha

What is it that the models miss, in your opinion? I’ve spent some time with a pair of 64 AC30s and they were in fact transcendental, as you said. I don’t use AC30s much in the digital realm.

Transcendental???!! Man, you been hanging out in Boulder way too long, Bruh!
We got to get you back to Earth, with your feet firmly on the ground, before
you wisp away into Nothingness, Met.

With that being said.... I will offer up this Most Sacred Of All Chants to try and help:

:rofl

I do love Marshalls. It will probably be a while, but the next amp I buy will be a Marshall of some sort.

I came this close to buying a 1987x before I found this ac30 head.

Soon

I was just messing around----except for the Boulder/Flat Irons comment.

I once went to an Alex Grey Workshop in Boulder. He blew my mind with
his Stories and his Art. That was well before he was doing Album Cover
Artwork for Tool. 1999-2000, or thereabouts.

He's all, "Yeah, here are some slides and stories from when I took Mushrooms at The North Pole."

:puppet

:rofl

I still can't draw or paint for shit. :rofl But it was VERY illuminating, and he was super insightful
on the Creative/Artistic Process .... regardless of the medium anyone uses. :idk
