SPARK 2 " A.I " Tone Creation ..... pretty damn impressive

You absolutely don't have to use their AI stuff- in fact I toyed around with the AI tone generator on my Spark 2 for the first couple of days only and haven't touched it since then. It's a very niche thing imo. I use my own dialed in patches and experiment when I feel like it.
I know that. I don't think it's even niche. I think it's not "AI" at all. It's the buzzword abuse that gives me pause, not the software.

About the cabinet, most of the feedback has been very underwhelming, to the point that I don't even feel like trying it out myself.
Yeah, I have been reading that as well. I'm better off not adding any more stuff anyway.

So u can just use the spark 2 like an amp? Same as thr and other smallish amps?

That's what I'm doing. You just need a smartphone or even better a tablet - UI is a bit small on a phone screen.

EDIT: I've saved 4 clean/edge of breakup and 4 dirty/high-gain tones on the unit itself so most of the time I don't even connect my phone.

Just got my Spark 2. If definitely sounds much better. Best way I can describe it is the 40 reminds me of 20th century practice amps and the 2 is a modern one.

Ie, the 20th century ones never quite let you forget you were using a cheap practice amp. Modern ones can.

It’s certainly a nice step up. I think mine is great.

I tried upgrading the speakers in my OG Spark 40. It helped a bit but it still sounded no where near what the new one sounds like. Combo of upgraded speakers and new “HD” amp models I suppose.

That helps - cause I wondered about swapping the speakers in my 40.

Which would you recommend?
Yea you could get a Spark 40 probably cheap on the used market now but the 2 still wouldn't be much more so I'd go with the 2 and the couple of additional features alone. Tone? Side by side the 2 is as, others noted, a little clearer, a little louder if you need but I didn't. Play them apart and you certainly wouldn't say the 40 sounds bad by any means it still sounds good and considering not selling my 40 and setting up a stereo system in my living room with them.
