Roland Gigcaster 8 pad and sample download failures???

Have been setting up guitar and vocal patches on the Gigcaster 8 and all is well. Problem is that I've now taken a look at the sample pads and it's a complete Failure for me. I've followed the online instructions over and over 7-8 times and it does not download the effects samples the to gigcaster. Also, I've tried a number of times to download my own samples and then at the end of it all a message comes up saying "file error, operation failed".

Has anyone had this problem? Any solutions?

Thanks

Hi Stan - did you ever get this sorted?

I've got a Gigcaster 8 today and am unable to update the software - it keeps coming up with "update error" - wonder if you had any suggestions that helped you that might also help me!

Hi Adam,
Just saw this now. Yes I got it sorted out by returning my unit and getting a new replacement which works fine. Must of had a lemon. New unit works fine and has allowed me to download my own drum loops to the pads for duo gigs.

I got the 5 on my desk…as an interface,,,,excellent actually. Daw/bluetooth/inputs under a fader…boss modeling in it, excellent vocal efx, 2 headphone outs…saves some fiddling in control apps common for traditional interfaces.

No independene monitor mixes…
Does it put Boss sauce all over everything? Or does it keep the dry signal relatively untouched?

The modeling is what it is like any other GT/GX..and the efx also. In my mind boss efx got rid of their sauce since the ms3 ;)
I didn’t do an AB comparison…but I haven’t noticed anything out of the ordinary. Also, in this day and age I kinda trust Boss to keep integer what is meant to be integer…like mic preamps and dac.

I got it during a periode where they were dumped for 200,- on the EU market….not sure why..I expected a discontinuation…but not the case. Maybe they hoped to get some happy users like myself to post on fora like this ;) At 200,- it was a no brainer.

Would I get it again at full price?…I guess I would. Besides practical as an interface, I use it to plug in students, I record bass through it, I’ve used it as a mixer and guitar efx unit for a guitar/vocal duo gig. The time efx are probably better then what I have in my daw…I might use these if I have a mix coming up.
Yeah I wish I had bought one when they were dumping these. I just was wary about discontinuation and there being some bug that is annoying enough in the long run.

Now that you've had it for a while, how do you feel about it?

Thinking of buying the Gigcaster 8 here in Japan if I find a good price.

Seems you can do a separate headphones mix at least for the channels on the front panel.

I think you can make a headphones mix by using the headphones buttons on each channel. There is also some monitor setting buried somewhere according to the manual.
