Replacement Joystick for the Helix/LT?

Hey friends

The joystick on my LT works when clicked down or in any of the 4 directions, but its rotary/encoding function has pretty much gone. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it takes 10 spin-clicks to do what would normally take one.

I bought it 2nd hand and there are no official line 6 repair shops near me.

Does anyone know whether or not replacement joysticks are being sold? I could only find the small encoders and the preset encoder etc.

Thanks! <3

The joystick itself is part of the main screen and control board.

You might be able to isolate that specific part and replace it, but I'm not really sure to be honest.

It’s the worst part of the design. This will be the problem when they stop making it. Main encounters should not be hard to replace or made exclusively.

Looks like it's an encoder (rotary part) on a moving (=joystick) platform. You can measure it & looks for part on digikey or mouser.

Yeah the encoder looks like a pretty standard part so it could probably be replaced. Interesting design. I guess the joystick part of it is basically a slightly tilting part that hits 4 switches underneath?

@Digital Igloo Any good stories about how that joystick/encoder came to be?

Someone was smoking something 🤣

Because it WILL fail and when the product support ends this will be a huge problem.
Well, "homemade" joystick still works..just for next time be more gentle with encoder :)
Before replacing the encoder i will check the wires & soldering.

This here says that it should work for both the preset encoder and the encoder of the joystick, so yes, maybe I can fit it on that platform. Fingers crossed, I will keep you guys updated

On digikey probably even cheaper
