So, I'm thinking about getting a Super Strat and a guy has one of these locally from 2007 in perfect condition. I have owned 3 Fender SSS Strats over the years and did not care for them. Would this be a better option? What would you pay for one of these? I can snag some pics from the FBMP if anyone wants to see it.

If I remember correctly, these were just sold at Guitar Center back in the late 2000's. I remember seeing the blue version and really wanting it, but money was tied up with raising kids.

I think they were around $400-$450 when they came out.

Today - I think my max would be $300 for one. I'm guessing they're just like the RG370's that came out during that time. Good guitars but nothing spectacular. But I'd be happy with one if I had it.

If you can get one for $300-$350 and in really good condition, I think you'd be happy.

Thanks for your opinion! Like I mentioned, I eventually want to get a strat-type guitar without spending a ton of money in case it doesnt gel with me.

I had the fixed bridge variant of this guitar, the rg3ex1 - it was a really solid and dependable, easy to play too, necks on these are very comfortable, jumbo frets etc. Made in Indonesia but no real flaws, felt solid and well built, only that the "made by emg" pickups were a bit flat and unremarkable, I replaced them soon enough. Must have had it close to 15 years but moved it on this summer for £200 to thin the herd. All in all a solid guitar - looks good too

Thanks for the info! I really need a single coil type guitar for the band, but I have not liked any I have had in the past so I was thinking of the model with HSH setup and not spending a bunch to get it in case it doesnt work out. Also, the guy wont message me back on it so he either has sold it, having second thoughts, or wants a lot more than what I offered.

If it doesnt work out, imported super strats are for sale everywhere around here. I may just say F- It and just get a Telecaster and try that instead.

It’s got an Edge 3 on it, I don’t have any experience with that one, but it’s not an Edge/LoPro Edge and that’s enough for me to toss out the warning- if you’re not familiar with a Floyd and all their idiosyncrasies, a ‘not totally badass’ Floyd might drive you crazy.

Yeah, Thanks for pointing that out. Our lead guitarist said the same thing. Be prepared to deal with it or change it and it's going to cost you some $$ to change it. Almost as much as you will spend to buy it.

Thanks guys for all the info! I'm going to let this one pass and keep looking. I'm sure something will come up soon.

FWIW, if you come across a cheap RG350 or RG470, you can swap the garbage LoTRS out for a Gotoh 1996t without routing. You can generally find these models for $300-$400 used. I actually snagged my 470 in a pawnshop for $60! They’re both HSH w/ 24 frets.

Thanks, Drew! I will look for those in my area.

I know it's more money but there are some sick deals on Charvels right now. These
are essentially "new" and overstock but they have to be listed as used or B-stock
to be sold so far below retail.

Same retailer also has some Jacksons, Ibanezes, Fenders, and EVH Superstrats. FYI. :idk
