So my pedal collection is pretty slim right now. I paired down massively a year or so ago, and now all I've got is the following:

- Digitech FreqOut
- Boss RV-5
- Meris LVX
- Meris MercuryX
- MXR Reverb
- Boss DD-8
- Boss DD-3
- Lehle Mono Volume
- Boss SD-1w
- TS808 clone

For quite some time I was just using my Helix, Axe3, and the above. I'm feeling like I wanna get more singles again. I got the QC, and I enjoy it, but I don't know if I will keep it.

Currently on my list:
- Walrus Audio Fable
- Walrus Audio Lore
- Walrus Audio Sloer
- Line6 DL4 MKII
- Boss DD-200
- Fractal VP4
- Wampler Tumnus Deluxe
- Peterson Strobostomp Mini
- Danelectro 3699 Fuzz

What else should I consider?? I don't have a good option for a really gnarly as fuck fuzz, or anything that does good "fuck shit up" effects.

Just an idle thread to kick around some ideas. Don't know what will stick really.

Dude, if I was into the gear and sounds like you are, I would want to rig up a dual amp setup in stereo, and put a TC Mimiq up front to see how realistic it sounds.

The Mark V and Recto sound great in stereo! Maybe I'll do a video on that.

I imagine they do. But that pedal is supposed to emulate a human double-tracked guitar, somehow randomizing the signal. Petrucci uses it live, having referred to it as his 'secret weapon', placing it first in the chain. Then it splits the signal, and goes into all the other shit! :rofl

I had a few Tube Screamer clone pedals over the years and liked most of them. But I never had a actual Ibanez TS-9 or TS-808 before yet. A new TS-9 is only $100 bones if you pay full price, and a TS-808 is $170. That's like the cost of a night out to dinner and a movie for 2 here in Lalaland. Might be something fun to get for budget bucks just to fart around with and see if you can find some cool sounds to tweak. Also some of the pedal companies like AnalogMan do some cool mods to the Ibanez Tube Screamer pedals.

I don’t know if it would work for you, but my inspiration baseline is something that I heard in an impactful song and what impressed me the most emotionally in it a or in a whole album ( if there is a concept or general theme). The mood of course . Like, is it a single coil into light crunch into chorus into analog delay followed by digital delay? And being able to physically see it on knobs and develop a pattern of the adjustment process?

Methinks you need an Earthquaker Afterneath.
Those thing are bloomin' killer!!

At the moment I'm on a bit of a quest for suuuuuupppperrrrr paddy delays and reverbs; like play one note and get 2 minutes of texture out of it, kind of thing.

I'm also digging into drive pedals and using them to augment my Mark V and Recto. Haven't really played my other amps too much in the last few months.

TBH, I tend to think... a TS is a TS is a TS.... my clone is really good. I think I'd rather get a Klon type of thing, hence the Tumnus.

  • Whammy pedal
  • Ring modulator with expression pedal
  • Fuzz Factory
  • EH Microsynth or similar
Yeah 10000% these!!!

Wonder how that’d work with an FM9.

I assume you mean how you route the signal...?

Here's where JP discusses the Mimiq; not sure if he goes into detail how the split signal eventually makes its way into the Axe III, but if it's not in the section I have cued up, I'd bet it's in this video somewhere.

Looks like he's using IN3 & Out3, left and right, so he's definitely retaining that split signal all the way through his rig, although I'm not sure how he handles his stompboxes, since they're in the front.

I still want to put together a Boss board. I have the DM-2W, CE-2W, and DD-3T I got from Achilles a while back. Strongly thinking about getting an IR-2 and an SD-1.

This, I'm thinking about buying a larger board just so I can fit mine back on with my current config... I sort of convinced myself I built something out -kind of- close on the HX stomp but its just not the same at all and we have a few songs with parts that were built around that pedal

Boss RE-202 does some pretty far out stuff :love

Hologram Electronics Chroma Console. Weird and useful.

EHX Hog 2.

Caroline Guitar Wave Cannon. From straight drive to fuzzy with a twist.
