All pretty clear minus the "important note" in step 4: "tilt the trem fwd for high E" - are they talking full dive bomb or just tilt the trem 1/8"?

Yes that’s good advice. Regarding the high E ; you just need to pull it tight then lock it down. This is enough on my GS7 , but do hold some tension on it or you will run out of travel. Making sure they are all the way out at the beginning is super important.

Just did a string change. Followed their advice, and definitely did the "tightened very hard" on the clamping part! All was fine up until the last one, the high E, where I thought I went TOO hard, because as I started to tune up the knob fell off the back, and there was a little teeny sliver of metal that came out (along with the white washer). Maybe a set screw lost a thread from me tightening too much? They should never tell me "tightened very hard", as I'm going to do exactly that! All fingers, of course. Regardless, tightening the set screws fixed it and it tuned up.

A Kaizen is on my WTB list, but I want to play one in person first and they are pretty scarce in the local shops. I think it is one of the best looking new designs out there.

Thanks for all that info! BTW, I am a lover of all things Ned Steinberger and have owned my XM2T bass since 1991 (it was built in 1989 I believe - S/N: N5950 and I am the second owner). But as I am sure you know, it is headless and therefore does not have similar tuning mechanisms and of course the nut is a different bird all together ;~)) Anyway, I appreciate the feedback and I will definitely look into those tuners (even though they are now being produced by one of the evil empires of guitar)!

That Spectre GS7TA was almost as cool as my various GM1TAs...
