I've pretty much given up on 3-4 channel amps because there's pretty much always one channel that is mediocre. If it's designed as a high gainer like this one, usually the crunch sounds are "meh" and if it's designed as more medium gain then usually the high gain sounds are a bit too loose.I am torn I really liked the clean channel it was great , the green mode or crunch or whatever its called honestly sound dark and woofy no matter the setting , the High gain channel when he first dialled it in sounded decent and had a bit more cut but it really hard to tell for me with a guitar that is tunes so low and those discordant intervals , guys is an amazing player but other than the clean stuff all the Djent sounded pretty dark and wooly which is surprising as it was EL34 , but to be honest I don't hear much of that El34 character in there at all certainly nothing Marshall .
on that first video My Opinion on Revv kind of stands , its a really full featured amp , I want to like it , I am Canadian they are Canadian but the tones always just seem generic and processed to me

Honestly digitally controlled tube amplifiers should be more of a thing. Hook Wizard and the discontinued Stone Deaf SD30 are the only ones I know that aren't some rack preamp deal.Hot take/ sacrilege: Sometimes I watch demos of feature-packed, high gain channel-switchers, and I think amp manufacturers are doing their level best to try and make products that are almost as capable as...
...modelers?
Rev 4 purple pedal with the Rivera. Thanks!
I actually want an amp that "seems generic and processed."
I have a few vintage blackface Fender combos, a couple of Fryette big iron heads, and a Rivera Knucklehead Reverb. Those three groups have tons of character and really allow me to express myself.
But there are times when I want something generic, compressed, and high gain just to fool around with and make me feel like a guitar hero. I also want it to have a good clean channel. The Generator 120 Mk III seems to meet that description.
That type of amp isn't a necessity for me which is why I don't have one to date but I keep thinking about it and when that happens I usually end up with whatever it is that's been haunting me even if it takes years to get one. The two that I'm considering are the Generator 120 and the Mesa Multi-Watt.
Right now I'm picking up a Rivera Suprema Jazz Recording to gig with so clearly getting another high gain channel switcher isn't my number one priority. Actually playing through the REVV and Mesa would really help me to make up my mind one way or the other.
In the meantime I'm using my Fractal gear to get those tones and it does them very well indeed. Better and better with each firmware update.
