Ha! Never occurred to me lol but I DO have a teal & pink Chupacabra to spice things up a bitHeroic behaviour. and keeping the theme with all black everything
It's got good range in it; just strummed through it a bit. The Bright switch on the Lead channel works even with the Gain dimmed up (which is atypical for a Marshall) and really has an audible effect - brings the cut.Congrats, mate! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on how it sounds! I've been considering pulling the trigger on one but I'm a bit hesitant about doing so without hearing it in person/playing through one.
You're not by chance a Poison The Well fan are you? It's got good range in it; just strummed through it a bit. The Bright switch on the Lead channel works even with the Gain dimmed up (which is atypical for a Marshall) and really has an audible effect - brings the cut.
Amp doesn't feel as crazy gained up like the BadCat Lynx - that amp is pure insanity. The Archon Classic has a nice, open timber a la a good Marshall - very reminiscent of my Ceriatone Molecular 50W without any clipping diodes. The clean channel feels nice too - need more time with it.
The price on these things is pretty good imho. Need to put it through its paces & test the FX Loop.
That's really nice to hear! I really love the Cameron CCV models (I notice that Camerock module in the SYN-1!) so I was thinking this would be a great analogue alternative. I'm torn between this and a JVM410H, but the JVM is nearly twice the price here. It's got good range in it; just strummed through it a bit. This isn't as noisy as that for sure but the JVM is a lot more flexible etc. I'm pretty sure the JVM has a lot more gain in it too but whether that's usable gain, depends on the user. For my own tastes, the Archon Classic feels like it has enough gain for the brootz - throw in a boost pedal & you'll get his infernal majesty knocking on your door to turn it down. That's really nice to hear! I was looking at the Kraken MKII for a lightweight solution yes but then I went and got the Bluguitar Amp1 Iridium which is even more portable, has a noise gate, boost, reverb and sounds very convincing.@2dor Just trying to remember... weren't you looking at the Kraken at one point? I've also been looking at the Kraken on and off.
Did you buy the Archon instead?
Thank you!Congrats on the new amp!
Also...why two SYN-1s?
Why male models?
How is the overall noise level of the amp compared to the Badlander (which is pretty much dead quiet)? The Lead channel on this thing is Hot-Rodded Marshall all day long.
Amp doesn't crap out with the Gain (called Volume for some weird, probably academic, reason) dimmed all the way up.
Briefly tested the FX loop - doesn't seem any much noisier than the Lynx or the Badlander. Master volume is before the FX Loop though; both the Lynx and the Badlander have a post FX-Loop Master volume.
It's in the ballpark of the Badlander - pretty quiet at least the unit I have - but it's not as gained up as the Crush on the Badlander, I'd say it's somewhat in between the Crunch and Crush of the Mesa (on the Lead channel)How is the overall noise level of the amp compared to the Badlander (which is pretty much dead quiet)?
