My cleanish Deluxe Reverb / Princeton thing has been over for at least a couple of years now.

These days, the amp models I usually use in the Axe-Fx are '59 Bassman / JTM 45 / 50w Plexi.

Still EOB and low-to-mid crunch, but significantly more gain than I used to use.

I get it now.

I blame @JiveTurkey & @la szum.

I also blame Soldano for not having a "proper" crunch channel in the X88-IR

But.

Perhaps I should thank them!

And then there's La Szum with his ubiquitous battle cry:

Oddly enough; a killer clean sound is SUBLIME I am terrible at picking amps that sound great clean and equally terrible at dialing in those types of tones for whatever reason. Whenever I sense that juice coming on; it's just easy to smash the gas pedal to the floor

My current thinking is that the very best thick, ballsy clean with rich harmonics turned out to be the JTM45 and not a Fender; although to be fair to Fender, it's pretty much a Bassman of course.

I nearly bought the 2245 several time this week and then at the last minute swerved to the 1987X.
