I'll use this thread and post updates as I keep building tracks.

What's that heavy bass tone Geo. has in the beginning? A 1-octave down effect. I threw a Waves octaver VST on center track.

In most areas the guitars are quad-tracked (2 L/R Plexi, 2 L/R Rockman). Sometimes (beginning) a center track too.

I've laid down all rhythms, a couple guitar theme parts, light mixing. There's still a lot of work to do.

Guitars: Gibson CS SG Custom (rhythms), Charvel So-Cal (leads)
Pedals: Wampler EQuator (Volume cranked, bass/treble cut, mids @ 723Hz a la Tube Screamer)
Amps: '68 Plexi circuit, Rockman Sustainor
Cabs (iRs): York Audio Fane 50W, Celestion 25W Greenbacks

Triple L has helped me with my recorded guitar tone more than any other bro on the forums.

I gotta figure out which of the 3 distorted rhythm tones I'm going to combine for specific rhythm parts throughout the tune.

When I laid down the rhythm tracks I didn't really think it through (that's fine though, needed to repetitively practice).

The three distorted rhythm tones are basically:

1) Plexi - Fane w/ brighter EQ
2) Plexi - Fane w/ thicker EQ
3) Rockman

It's also possible 2) Plexi - Greenback w/ thicker EQ

I'm thinking 1) plus 2) for most parts

Only 2) for the "superfast Randy Rhoads Crazy Train" rhythm parts

Only 3) for the rhythm theme "stabs"

Or something like that... this is all guesstimation because no one knows what Geo. actually used.

I read he used a Plexi blended w/ an SLO.
