I suspect that many of you are not aware of Clifton Wright. He is a phenomenal player with 3.75 thousand subscribers to his channel. He mostly posts play throughs of vintage rack gear and short tunes that he writes. His latest video showcases his insane chops. Enjoy!

Yeah he makes it looks easy. I watch a lot of his videos and no matter if he’s playing rock, country or jazz he tears it up.

He is good but the standard today is very high before you are exceptional.

Funny how the standard is Rock/Metal guys…the scale goes up, the scale goes down.😂
Not for me it’s not. It’s all music. People need to understand and use theory as well. Improv over changes . Illiterate mono tonal pentatonic bs is exactly that. Feel is phrasing not the ability to bend the only two notes you know out of tune slowly. The guy in the video is just standard capable good. You want excellent try this;

Fair enough…but…As much as i dig him on stuff and the genre in general, IMO the standard there is still Django. But if we go with current guys then its Stochelo, Bireli, Oberg
Joscho’s nanigoat vibrato drives me as nuts as the gain guys running up and down dorian.

For me Benson is where its at.

If anyone is being honest he is 10 times better than Django technically but Django was the innovator of the style. Joscho’s vibrato is just a reflection of traditional tone in this music . You also have nowhere to hide on a Selmer style harmonically or technically.

Thats the thing originating a style goes a long way.

As for Selmers, Maccaferis, etc…to me they are a lot easier to play than what the Bluegrass guys muscle out of theirs.
None of the guys i mentioned have as nervous a vibrato.

Now having said any of this, we are having this conversation because of the youtube superstars being admired and for that i agree that some one like Joshi is way above.
