KSR PA100/50R Rackmount Power Amp

I had been wanting a sane form factor PA50 for a while, personally. I went ahead and preordered a 100W EL34 loaded version. :D

I have a 50W lunchbox version already. If I sell that, I can get more than 50% off what the 100W rack mount costs, I don't think this will crater used prices on the box since a lot of folks will be price conscious, re the rack.

It is mono but so is the OG PA50 it'll replace. I generally run mono to a cab.

It has some other cool features like internal load box and MIDI switchable master volumes and FX loop, etc. The biasing is dirt simple and it can handle about any tube.

And one thing you get in exchange for it being mono is that it is light and very shallow in the rack. Less than 10inches deep and 20lb for the 100W (less for the 50, I think 15lbs). The PA50 is really portable so no surprise.

Pretty stoked.

I remember them saying they were working on a rack version when I was shopping for a power amp. Looks really nice, I just wish it was stereo, even though I don’t really need it.

Yeah, I'm kind of the same, always love versatility... but would use it in mono most of the time.

Ironically there are a lot of stereo power amps out there that generally cannot run bridged, so best case you disable one side and get half the overall power of the amp (although you do get built-in back up ;) ).

That sort of put me off the Fryette 2/50/2, f.ex.

So for a lot of those unbridgable power amps, you get this monstrously heavy and deep 2U unit, that you are only using half of if you are not running two cabs; because it has two independent power amps in there. With this, you can build a small rack that is more comparable to a head.

The plot f’ing thickens.

I keep the LXII racked with the AxeFx to run full stereo, but this bastard might be perfect for a little Synergy action, and I already have the spare 3U rack for both.

The only thing that kept me away from the PA50 was the form factor. Well done KSR.

That's sick! I'd still go with the Fryette LXII over this though based on the fact that it is stereo, a single rack space and obviously price.
