The Skreddy

  • (a solid-state emulation of) the full preamp section including bridged Normal and Brilliant channels
  • 3-band Hiwatt* model tone stack set to my favorite levels (typical David Gilmour settings)
  • power amp emulator including Presence calibration
  • speaker cab emulator
  • balanced XLR output that sends a strong noise-free signal to the sound board or recording interface (includes a bit of resistance drag to eliminate that typical loud "pop" when plugged in).

If it works, it's pretty cool. :)

im all for any hiwatt anything almost ever. but this one seems a little subjectively subjective on favorite and unsettable parameters?

I’ve spent so much time playing amps that are just Volume + Tone or Volume + Cut controls I guess just a volume doesn’t seem that strange to me

Skreddy’s put some effort into 70’s Gilmour tones over the years, that fact alone makes me interested in this. My *only* interest in Hiwatts lies in recreating Gilmour tones, this could be a good option for that.

It could be cool. I've gigged with a Radial JDX Direct Drive in the past, which is sort of the same idea, with a few more options. I used an AMT tube preamp for overdrive etc and it sounded really good live.

Skreddy makes a lot of quality gear. It will be really well made with good quality parts and definitely won't sound rubbish. It really depends whether the feature set or lack thereof works for you or not.

I'd love to have a peek at the guts tbh, purely for curiosities sake.
