I Want a Headless

New Strandberg models announced today. New Original has titanium instead of carbon fiber in the necks. Also custom Fishman pickups!

Also the cheaper Standards rock Seymour Duncan Pegasus and Sentient sets.

I’m interested in the switching of pickups and how the new Fishmans sound.

That's cool that they put those SDs in the standard... I have a pegasus in my LP its a great sounding pickup. The no name pickups in the previous standard was one of a few reasons I skipped over for a used prog instead

Yeah I have the same pickups in my PRS and really enjoy them.
Definitely a great set. I'm looking for an excuse guitar, just to put that Pegasus/Sentient set in :rofl

I have this Kiesel Tim Miller M6 on the way :D Found it on reverb few days ago and I sold some guitars and grabbed this as I really miss my kiesel zeus that I shouldn't have sold and was missing a headless and I always wanted one of this Tim Miller ones since they came out and weirdly this is the one I seen back in april of 2024 that I really wanted back then.

It was featured on the DEAL OF THE LIVE. Then chicago music exchange got it somehow, then this person on reverb got it and now it's coming to me! It was meant to be :D

Hoping it arrives monday!

It's here :D Love it! Fitted a GK-5 pickup on it for my boss gm-800 and vg-800 (which is on the way). I had sold my gm-800 and vg-800 and kiesel zeus a few months back and regretted it since.

So happy to have a headless again and my boss stuff back!

Looking good! How does it compare to the Zeus? Congrats again :guiness

I’m new to this forum, but here are some thoughts about headless…

As a long-time Steinberger user, I don’t understand why headless bridges designed by Ned Steinberger 45 years ago have a super smooth 40:1 ratio, yet many modern headless bridges designs are often plagued by stiff tuners?

Strandberg is expensive for what it is, but if you play mostly sitting down, and want a lightweight ergonomic guitar, it’s almost impossible to beat. Other designs that come close are Klein and Abasi Concepts (albeit not headless and the Larada Legion 7-string that I tried was somewhat neck-heavy). I also tried a used Aristides H0/6 but the setup was a mess and there was string buzzing all across the neck & the tuners were super stiff (probably the original Hantug hardware). Body was comfortable, but not as comfortable as a Strandberg in the classical position. I’ve tried a few Legator headless guitars and they were all very heavy.

Both Ned Steinberger and Riviera have developed new headless bridges with the tuners facing up, rather than back, so a large body route behind the bridge isn’t necessary any more and allows for much-needed differentiation is headless body design. In particular the NS Design Fulcrum hardware allows the ball ends to anchor at the mini headstock (like a Kubicki bass). This is a very elegant solution because it avoids sharp string ends sticking out.

Here's a good video from the horse's mouth:

I think it's a neat design, but the issue with this is that it is more complicated, including installing, than headless bridges from say ABM. It is also helluva lot more expensive. $82 x 6 = $492.

By comparison ABM 3801 is 49.41 € x 6 = 296.46 € = $343.28. $149 less is a pretty big cost saving, considering the NS design only solves requiring a cutout behind the tuners.

I like the headstock string anchors a lot more.

I played a couple headless over the weekend, a "Legator Ghost" 7-string multiscale and a Kiesel. The Kiesel was pretty solid, I haven't played many of those before. Legator seemed cool as well.

I still am amazed by the Strandbergs I've played, just top tier guitars. I really should get one at some point.

I played one of the Ibby headless guitars this summer (with a multiscale) and was absolutely amazed at how much I liked it. The finish was not my vibe at all but it played great.

The NS Fulcrum hardware isn’t exactly cheap, but it is made by RWB, which makes excellent quality. $149 in exchange for complete body design freedom is well worth it in my opinion.

Maybe, but I think the lopped off back has become almost a signature feature of headless guitars at this point. To the point that headless doesn't quite look right to me without it.

I tried the signature of that fraud Ichi a while ago, I also really liked it. So light and had a neck profile that really felt great in my hands.
