I know that the classic answer would be "whatever sounds good for you", but soon I'll have a Les Paul for recording some distorted guitars just for one evening, and I'd like to have a curated list of distortion, amp and cab blocks that could be considered as "typically works great with a Les Paul" so I don't have to browse through every option 😅

For reference, I'm seeking for 90's alt rock/grunge distorted sounds.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated :)

Placater Dirty and one of the 4x12 Greenback cabs.

For what you are looking for, maybe the Dual Rectifier or JCM800 2203 model with 4x12 V30 cabs?

I'm using the 2203 already with my strat (and sounds awesome). I'll try those other two. Thanks!

Timmy model has been my favorite model so far for any guitar, I also actually really like the OCD model for a bit more oomph, which is ironic as I've bought a real OCD so many times and have never liked it

2203 is king with a Les Paul, that’s a hard one to beat. The Brit Trem Bright is also fantastic if you are looking for a more vintage Plexi-ish vibe.
