Happy Friday Savages!! What guitar strap is your favorite?

The strap I have been using, Mr. el cheapo, has been getting more slippery with continued use at band practice especially with my LP's. So I guess it's time to spend some money for a comfortable, non-slip guitar strap.

Nothing fancy needed, just a strap that will keep my mind on playing comfortably in the correct position vs taking up mental capacity and arm strength to keep the guitar neck in a good position.

Bonus points awarded for strap locks suggestions!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

I like the festival design straps, I have them in various colors to complement each guitar or bass, made by Souldier, Fender & D'Addario.

"I wish I had bought more cheap uncomfortable guitar straps" said no guitarist ever on his deathbed, suffering chronic shoulder pain.

Strap are a buy once, cry once thing. Get a couple real good ones, never look back.

Not a fan of clunky grindy metal locks. I favour oversize buttons with a no-wobble shaft, deep spool, real fur felt washers and beefy hardware. These are my own design. Note one of these pins is not like the others.

Or go old school with leather locks which also add extra length to your chain if you've maxed out on your strap adjustment.

OP, sent you a Pm.

There we go @Fat Lizzy ... Yet another strap maxed out right to the very last loop... so common. Is it long enough for you right enough there, or did you settle?

I try so hard not to make people do that.

It’s actually pretty comfortable at that length.do you make straps then? Ah, I see, you’ve got some cool looking ones on your page there. I might have to make an order

I’ve always just used the basic D’Addario nylon straps. They’re dirt cheap at about $6 each and get the job done.

I guess I’ve never really put much thought into a strap. Maybe one of these days I’ll grab something nice for a change.

A good strap should not have any metalwork, be fully adjustable and be available to fit strap locks properly without modification. It should also be comfortable. That really doesn’t leave many. A lot of the so called “ quality “ leather straps are actually badly designed . The basic levy car seat belt material strap with S locks is hard to beat. With heavy instruments neoprene is good.

I had one of those DiMarzio ClipLock straps back in the 90’s that I believe used seatbelt material. It was very sturdy (didn’t stretch), but I felt the whole clip system was overkill for my needs. That’s when I switched to cheap nylon straps and now use them in conjunction with the PRS strap buttons.

I still have a couple but the basic levy ones are better imo.

It’s still here ;

They cheapened it down a bit but still available.

I have a couple of Fender Deluxe Wide padded leather straps. One with Loxx straplock system installed on it, and another without simply because I don't like how the Loxx stuff looks on some of my guitars so those use traditional strap pegs.

I've had the same straps for like over 25 years now.

Leather straps are great if they adjust to the right length without metalwork but they usually don’t. The number of strap buckle dents I see and strap damage is significant just from putting the instrument in a stand and letting go of the strap.
