Friedman IR-D Hiss - SOLVED

Structure switch in the “up” (most gain) position with the gain knob at 1:00, I experience a lot of hiss. Like a distracting amount of it. Anyone else experience this?

I contacted Friedman and they said they’ve never heard this complaint before. They recommended changing the tubes.

Engaging the noise gate at 50% does stop it, but the gate is so aggressive that it abruptly chops off notes when it closes.

UPDATE: I received a replacement pedal that has very little noticeable hiss. So the original must have had an issue. Many thanks to @politoleo from B.A.D. in helping me out.

Does it hiss when the guitar volume is at zero or no jack is on the input?
Is it grounded somewhere? (usb, interface, monitors, amp, etc..)

If doens't hiss (or very low) when no guitar or guitar volume to zero and is not grounded anywhere, it's normal
