Was recently messing with the Cab Block Room/Air Settings as in these:-

If you use this Tab .... what are some settings / suggestions people have (?)

The room option is just a simplified version of the reverb block, so unless you need to squeeze every bit of performance out of your preset, might as well just use the Reverb block.

Never cared for the "Air" feature which afaik adds some of the dry signal.

Actually it has a feature that the reverb block doesn't have and that in some cases adds a bit of realism: floor reflections.

Basically just a little room with the reflections off. Gives it a bit of depth without sounding like it's got reverb on it. It's entirely conceivable that it's doing nothing though and is just there for a placebo effect. :giggle:

That's correct, and room tone is on just about every iconic guitar sound recorded via mic(s) and cab(s).

Air is also on many of these sounds, as it mimics a DI off of the amp's speaker output, with that often filtered signal often mixed with the mic(s) as well.

The trick in that is the phase relationship and respective levels of the DI vs the mic(s) or IR's, and that's available via the Cab Block's Alignment Tab.

Fractal gives you all the toys!

I spent quite a bit of time with it and after all that time, I found I still preferred the reverb block. I can see why people dig it though and would probably use it more if the Fractal reverbs weren't so damned pretty.

Ultimately it's for use in addition to reverb to mimic the real world, but other reverbs can do better room sims too.
