E string tuning

I have a two month old Gibson Les Paul 6 string electric. I tune the guitar then when playing the low E string on the G fret the tone is sharp. I verify this with the Fender tuning amp and the G is sharp. When I play I adjust to make the G in tune. It doesn’t matter where on the third fret it plays sharp. My ear also hears it as sharp. Does anyone have an idea why this occurs?

Intonate the guitar using the 3rd and 15th frets as the reference. Make sure the rest of the set up is correct first though.
