Don’t Believe High Paid YouTube Reviewers 👎

He did say it was "a solid box". Maybe he was confused by the surface texture.

Now, not knowing Bryce's role in the company is kind of 🤡 when reviewing one of his products.

I agree with your title for the most part

Recently I watched a Henning review of the Engl Fireball 25 and him saying how hopelessly terrible it was for pedals on the Clean channel.

At the time I was trying out my new Engl Fireball 25 and loving the Clean channel with pedals - with the Clean Gain and Presence set according to other YouTube vids. Even Phil McKnight was better!

Admittedly, most of the reviews online were for the Lead channel.

Pete Thorn is so damn good and so nice I almost bought a Suhr PT-15 and matching 2x12 in store when he was here a couple of years ago. All his demos make me want whatever he has - which unfortunately turns out to be talent.

Henning is a dink. I can see people missing features in a review, but I've seen this guy report wrong information on several occasions. My go to demo and review guy is Leon Todd. Excelent audio quality, demos are intuitive, and holy shit I love his chops and playing. The only thing I hate about his reviews and demos is the "take my money" effect after watching him.

+100 on @2112

I had to put an embargo on Leon’s videos here because he was at least in part responsible for me blowing thousands of dollars on Mesa amps from the 80s and 90s that I thought I swore off 20 years ago.

My wallet, back, and wife’s ears can’t take it.

Well, and the "everything sounds good phase" and "I actually don't really need it" have been in full effect for AGES at this point. I got tricked into the TBP by 60 Cycle Hum dude with spring reverb sounds I'll NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER use :wat:bonk:rofl So gear demos really don't even matter to me anymore

Shit, that was the same review video that almost led to me buying one. But, true to form, I watched every review I could find and discovered the higher gain Achilles heel, which shifted me back to the FM9T. And not long after that, Cliff updated the spring reverbs and I lost any interest in the TMP.

I hate to sound like an arrogant douche (but here goes anyway): whether it's guitar shit, camera gear, drone stuff, or whatever, I use gear reviews/YouTube strictly as a jumping off point, nothing more. I consider myself at least as knowledgeable as McKnight, Fluff, Henning, etc. So while I like Phil McKnight and Henning (Fluff can go fuck off though), I still take everything they do with a giant grain o' salt.
