as a metal head I really just keep strats around as kind of a novelty, so idk anything about strat convention or historical common practice. but it occurred to me that dudes will install chunks of metal mass to a trem block to increase sustain/tone, but the breakpoint of the string, where the most vibration energy is going to be transferred, is for some reason limited to the two little bridge screw contact patches per saddle, just so it's more comfy for the left hand?. it also occurred to me that i also don't flat pick on a radius. otherwise it would be radius picking. does anyone else like a completely flat bridge?

Those saddles should be set to the radius of your fretboard. With them being completely flat like that you will get fret buzz on the inner strings when you get the outer strings down to the action you want. If the saddles are set to match the radius of the fretboard you can get that same action across all six strings.

No because it’s beyond stupid. That is not how physics works , the same pressure is distributed over whatever area is available and focussing it on two small areas doesn’t diminish it at all. Same as the knife edges you don’t mention.
