Just toured MSG and got some cool views of the arena while they set up for the Gilmour show tonight. You can see Gilmour’s long-time tech, Phil Taylor, starting to run cable to the pedalboard.

I may or may not have been gifted some psychedelic chocolate bars that I may or may not consume for one of these shows. We’re on the floor tonight, not far from FOH, which will probably give the best view from a lighting perspective, tomorrow we’re on the right, maybe 100 feet from the stage where I’ll barely need a screen to see Gilmour’s fingers move. Trying to figure out which night will better for extra curricular concert activities. :rofl

How did you get in so early?? :idk

MSG does paid tours throughout the day. Went from top to bottom, ending in the locker rooms/arena floor. Pretty cool seeing some of the behind the scenes stuff. The beer coolers are practically the size of a restaurant and are filled with kegs ready to hit the taps. I’d love to see an engineer’s tour to get an idea of the cooling system used for the ice under the arena.

I didn’t take many pics or vids. I had an aisle seat and for the most part, had a perfect view of Gilmour the entire night. Cell phone use was minimal (at Guy Pratt’s request in a speech before the show). I really can’t believe I saw him right there, in front of my face. I barely looked at the screen, he was close enough I didn’t have to.

Lots of tears of joy running down my face. I dunno how many times I said “OMFG” last night.

(Not my vid)

The balls dropping in “High Hopes” was a treat. It’s timed just right so when they release the balls in the video they start popping out into the audience. I used to watch MTV for hours just waiting for that video to come on, having it essentially come to life like that was a treat.

When I saw him pick up the Red Strat I knew what was coming next (I’ve done good at not paying attention to the set lists overall).

The lighting was really outstanding. It’s not over the top like some previous Floyd tours, there’s just moments where they crank the lasers to 10 and fill the place with light. It was all very elegant and classy and didn’t get in the way of any music. It could have been a pinch louder and I wouldn’t have been upset. Outstanding mix and everyone on that stage was great. My only gripe would be the guitar player not really looking or playing as confidently as one should on a stage like that. Guy Pratt is a joy to watch and very much the heartbeat of the band.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-mmmmmmmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pink Floyd was the only concert I also saw 2 shows of the same tour.

It was Momentary Lapse of Reason, and I saw the first of 4 nights at the Capitol Centre in Largo, MD, the 1st 2 of those shows both being sold out, and then the show at RFK stadium in Landover, MD. Bot were just outside DC, and both are gone now. :(

Capitol Centre was ~20,000 and RFK was 70 I believe. I can't remember if it sold out, but I imagine it was close. PF had 2 sets of their production at that time, "leapfrogging" over one another because they took so long to set up. Iirc, it took 7 tractor-trailers just to haul the stage gear!

And they were mesmerizing!! It was THE best concert(s) I'd ever seen!

I remember the pig getting stuck way up in the center Jumbo-tron, and when it finally popped out, you could see the entire audience duck! It was trippy! (Literally, LOL!)

I don’t know what either high points I’ll hit in life, I feel like I just used up all that room! :rofl

Had a perfect line of sight on him again, I could see the individual lights on his pedalboard. Last night’s view allowed me to hear the arena react to him, which I didn’t hear much from the floor. I need to rehydrate after all those happy tears!
