Chevelle's new album is pretty dang good

Album was better than I expected.

I’m so torn on how I feel about Chevelle. I love their overall sound and the production is almost always incredible.

And the other half of me feels like they are great sounding music rather than great music. They’re also pretty limited with what they’re capable of doing and basically just stay in their lane doing the same couple of tricks over and over. To me it’s just kind of mediocre songs with big riffs and big production. Fun to listen to but not bringing a whole lot to the table.

Yep, this is where I’ve been with them since the start. There’s some tunes of theirs I REALLY love, “I Get It”, “Face To The Floor” and a few others, but the stuff I don’t dig much never rises above that, despite multiple listens and hoping to dig into it more.

Saw them live in ‘21 and they were great, killer guitar tone and while they stick to what’s on the album their one of those bands that the energy that particular night could give you a great show despite not venturing away from the album versions of the songs at all. Dude’s a Mark IV guy, I dig him just for that!

Somehow I missed this, gonna have to check it out soon!!!

Been a big fan of them since the first album and they’ve been one of very few bands that basically always holds up in the rotation for me.

Started listening to this one the other day and was pretty instantly bored but I'll give it another shot.

Their first 3 albums were a giant influence on my guitar playing, especially Wonder What's Next but I feel like after Vena Sera they just kinda kept doing the same thing over and over again. NIRITAS was pretty cool though. I enjoyed hearing Sam going back to a higher tuned snare, that's for damn sure.

Show was solid despite the sound kind of sucking. The bass was overpowering pretty much everything but the vocals. They played 3 tracks from the new album which was cool - they translated great live.

Was too far from the stage to see mich gear wise. I couldn’t see any amps on stage but they may have been set further back. Pete was playing some Balaguer baritone guitars instead of the Fenders he’s played in the past.
