Bugera 1960

heard a few people talk these up, pretty much dead on to standard super lead (easy enough to mod the values).

Rad man.
I called it a while ago,
Marshall will be busting out the killer’s real soon.
Like the stuff we scratch our heads in deep
wonder why Marshall hasn’t released..,say a Jose.
A MARSHALL made-modded Jose Marshall.
That’s dope AF!
I bet they release a EVH mod’el.
That’s how the big money works.
They’re gonna put the mega-money
strain on the competition, so those companies will have to up the ante’.
They don’t really have anywhere else to go for the most part.. -aren’t you tired of it also?
I think Mesa will do the same with the various Revisions etc.
Let’s ROCK!

these until recently were still on reverb new for like $599 or something, i should have grabbed one. apparently they work well for bass too

so funny how much bugera’s build quality gets dunked on, and yet it’s still leagues above blackstar.

Defo looks a budget build, but with that in mind, not too bad at all.

Didn't these have a reputation for failure because of that Infinium tube bias sensing stuff?

To me it seems like Bugera might have some decent engineers there, who then have to live with Behringer's "make it as cheaply as possible" business model.

I like this on an idea level as there's a lot of sensible extra features, but unless one popped up dirt cheap I probably wouldn't buy one.

I think @santiall worked on some of them, but I forget which models were his and which weren’t. IIRC, some of the biasing features (or at least a similar approach) was taken on some of his Marshall designs.

I also wonder how much of “the shitty sound” of these amps is mostly down to the fact that, at their price point, they are often used by more inexperienced guitarists probably paired with bad cabs, bad playing etc. And when stuff is cheap, it gets thrown around more and people take less care on making sure impedances are set up right etc.

I think there was a genuine bad batch of some Bugera’s that were prone to catching fire, mind.

Hey bro, what amps do you play?

Oh, I player buggerer amps.

Sicccckkkkkk.

I have a pretty lagre thread on the 1960 Infinium over at TOP:

Haven't fired it up in a couple years now, got to check if it still works!
Sounds absolutely great!

One of the best guitar players in town here has been using the same bugera combo for at least a decade on a full time musician basis. Seeing that sort of thing always kinda shuts me up when I'm thinking about dunking on bugera

I thought about getting one of these many years back. I was deciding whether or not to build my own Plexi, and the Bugera was so much cheaper than me buying the raw parts. Here in the US, I recall them being under $400 at one point in the mid 2010s.

Then the price jumped up to $500-$600 around 2020 as Behringer’s focus moved away from their tube amps.
